Erin Schirra

Quinnipiac University Physician Assistant

I was born and raised in Ellington, Connecticut. I received my bachelor’s degree in Health Science from Quinnipiac University, and am currently in Quinnipiac’s Physician Assistant program.

I have been involved my entire life in giving back to my community. My favorite experiences doing so have been through mission trips to rural and impoverished areas of New Hampshire, sections of Newburgh, New York, and the hurricane-damaged sections of Atlantic City. I have also sought to create opportunities for others to give back to their community as a way of establishing a continuous flow of necessities to those in need. My time establishing community service-based programs through Quinnipiac’s Department of Residential Life and the Community Action Project has helped me understand how to plan and run programs supporting underserved communities. Finally, I volunteer with my family once a week at Hartford Correctional Center running a Sunday Service for those that are incarcerated, which has added an invaluable aspect to my community service experience.

I am seeking involvement in the Urban Service Track program because I feel as though it will allow me to better understand the needs of our underserved communities and to strategize ways of solving the challenges that these communities face. The UST accords well with my passion for community service, advocacy for the unheard, and desire to work within geriatric health care.
