UConn School of Nursing

I attended The Sherman School for my primary education, and graduated from New Fairfield High School in 2017. After graduating, I matriculated at UConn to study Nursing.

Currently, I volunteer for the American Red Cross as a Summer Youth Corporation leader. There, I organize group events and help kids under eighteen volunteer for local blood drives and develop professional and social skills, and follow-up with them afterwards about their volunteer experiences. Previously, I worked as a camp counselor at the Candlewood Isle Camp for children between age five to fourteen. I organized physically and mentally challenging activities and served as the camp liaison between campers, parents, and the staff. Finally, I worked as a household nanny responsible for the care of two children, aged seven and ten. I cleaned up and organized for the children, and additionally ran errands as needed for my employer.

I sought involvement in the Urban Service Track/AHEC Scholars Program in order to make a difference in the healthcare professions. As I study to become a nurse, I want to be able to provide for the members of my community, for those who can afford healthcare as well as for those who cannot. I expect the UST/AS Program will provide me a better grasp various populations’ and cultures’ understandings of healthcare, broadening the scope of my effective care. This broadened perspective will help me re-define both my profession and the administration of healthcare in general.
