UConn School of Medicine

I was born in the Bronx, New York where I spent a portion of my childhood before re-locating to Connecticut. I graduated from Boston University with a major in biology and a minor in Spanish.

As an undergraduate, I was part of the executive board of two community service-oriented clubs, Project Sunshine and LIME. Through Project Sunshine, I provided companionship to children in the PICU and those visiting for primary care checkups, and volunteered to cook dinners at a local Ronald McDonald House. Through LIME, I acted as a mentor to high school students in the greater Boston area. These students were often uncertain about life after high school and were looking for female university students willing to discuss school, careers, and personal life with them.

Through the Urban Service Track/AHEC Scholars Program, I hope to better understand how I may combat the factors preventing vulnerable populations from accessing healthcare. My previous work and volunteer experiences in urban areas have strengthened my desire to continue serving in similar environments. I want to work towards improving health outcomes in communities that lack vital healthcare resources.
