UConn School of Dental Medicine

I was born in Danbury, Connecticut and raised in the neighboring town of New Fairfield, Connecticut. After graduating from New Fairfield High School, I earned a bachelor’s degree from Quinnipiac University.

While at Quinnipiac, I took part in many volunteer experiences. I was involved with Read Across America, through which I read to young children in the New Haven area and taught them about the importance of literacy skills to lifelong learning. I also took part in Quinnipiac’s Big Event, during which my friends and I performed a number of community service activities for the surrounding community and raised money for nearby food shelters.

Participation in the Urban Service Track/AHEC Scholars (UST/AS) Program is an outstanding chance for my peers and I to learn how our platform and education allow us to provide excellent care to those in need. Community service allows for individuals to develop a richer perspective on the world they live in, which in turn improves their cultural competency and ability to treat patients from a wide variety of backgrounds. I believe the leadership skills I will gain through my hard work and dedication in the UST/AS Program will allow me to improve the lives of individuals from urban underserved communities; in turn, the lessons I will learn through interaction with community members will make me both a better, more worldly citizen and a better, more competent healthcare provider.
