Clifford Aguele
School of Pharmacy, Class of 2015
I was born in Nigeria and lived there until I was 11 years old. I moved to New London, Conn. with my sister and have lived there with my parents ever since. I graduated with my B.S. in Biological Sciences from UConn. Learning about the different barriers to access of health care and the social determinants of health in my public health class was one of the reasons I was interested in the UST. As a UST scholar I will have the chance to work in the community and with the underserved – both of which should provide me with real life examples of some public health issues. I already volunteer at the patient transport unit of Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London CT and at the Care and Share Soup Kitchen in Groton, Conn. Other than gaining public health exposure, UST will provide me with inter-professional and clinical experience. Being able to properly communicate and work with other health care professionals and patients can play a big role in improving a patient’s access to health care. As a UST scholar I will be able to gain these valuable skills that I will someday need to apply to my future career as a pharmacist.
