Brian Portela

My name is Brian Portela and I am a current UConn School of Pharmacy student in the class of2026. I was born and raised in Waterbury, CT, where I attended John F. Kennedy High School and received my diploma. I will graduate this year with a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy studies and a minor in biological sciences as I finish my second year in pharmacy school. My experience within pharmacy began with community pharmacy at Walgreens at the very beginning of theCOVID-19 pandemic. I have since also gained experience working at the Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital outpatient pharmacy and Yale New Haven Health Smilow Cancer Hospital pharmacy. In addition, I have participated in outreach events such as a free blood.
