UConn School of Dental Medicine

I was born in Jalandhar, Punjab, India and immigrated to the United States when I was eight years old; I have lived most of my life in Waterbury, Connecticut. I obtained a Bachelor of Science from University of Connecticut in 2015, and a Master’s in Biomedical Science from Rutgers University in 2018.

I have volunteered numerous times with Connecticut Mission of Mercy’s Dental Clinics, and with the Migrant Farm Workers Clinic run out of Connecticut Health.

My milieu includes numerous members of underserved populations that lack access to appropriate health care. I want to join the Urban Service Track in order gain insight into how to help such people. I hope that the interdisciplinary atmosphere of the UST will improve my conceptual and practical grasp of holistic patient care. At the same time, I hope the program’s emphasis on the social determinants of health will enable me to help my patients overcome the socioeconomic difficulties they face in getting timely oral treatment.  Most importantly, I hope that my experience at the UST re-fashions my relationship to my own community into a more active one, in which my dental care skills may be a boon to those around me.
