Bella Hamilton

UConn School of Nursing

I was born and raised in Newton, Massachusetts with my parents and younger brother. I graduated from Newton South High School, and will graduate from UConn in 2023.

I currently work at Student Health and Wellness at UConn where I help with Covid testing. Previously, I was a camp counselor for six years as well as a swim instructor, and I have also been a mentor in a Big Brother Big Sister program.  I frequently volunteer at food pantries and serve food for meal programs.

I believe that the Urban Service Track/AHEC Scholars (UST/AS) Program is an important and necessary opportunity for future healthcare professionals so that they may provide the most holistic care possible to their patients. Nurses are at the forefront of patient care, and I want to understand how I can best care for vulnerable populations. I want to be a positive force addressing healthcare disparities, and I believe my experiences with the UST/AS Program will allow me to become just that.
