Ashley Szeto
Quinnipiac University Physician Assistant Program
I am from Westwood, MA, and graduated from Santa Clara University in 2023 with a bachelor of science degree in biology and psychology, with a minor in public health sciences.
I volunteered as an EMT, and worked as a chiropractic assistant, and as a medical assistant in dermatology and urgent care. Through these roles, I was able to experience the unique aspects of different medical disciplines and see their importance in providing holistic care to patients. I also participated in a free clinic in Guatemala to provide medical care to the communities surrounding Lake Atitlán that do not otherwise have equitable access to healthcare year round.
I want to join UST/AS because of how much I can learn from the hands-on experience it will provide me. I plan to take what I learn from these experiences and apply that knowledge in the future when I care for my own patients. A huge part of being a provider is understanding the different hardships that patients can have and being able to work around these hardships to provide the best care and resources possible. The experiences from UST/AS will provide me with the knowledge to better understand and combat the obstacles that may present themselves.
