UConn School of Medicine

I was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and spent my childhood in Ansonia, Connecticut. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree from UConn in physiology and neurobiology, and molecular and cell biology.

During my undergraduate career, I was deeply involved in community outreach. As a volunteer at Windham Hospital, I advocated for the personal and clinical needs of high-risk patients. Prior to matriculating at the UConn School of Medicine, I worked as a translational research assistant at the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center at the NYU School of Medicine. While conducting research into personalized care, I came to see that patients from underserved populations suffering chronic, complex diseases frequently experienced delays in treatment, making that treatment and medical interventions in general less effective. Both during and after graduating from college, I worked with non-profit organizations to aid in the professional development of and mentor first-generation, low-income students.

I sought involvement with the Urban Service Track/AHEC Scholars (UST/AS) Program to meaningfully address health disparities while working with an interdisciplinary network of providers, and thereby to dismantle systemic barriers to quality healthcare faced by underserved populations. Equipped with the clinical training and enrichment opportunities afforded by the UST/AS Program, I hope to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to underserved populations throughout my medical career.
