UConn School of Nursing
I am a sophomore nursing student at the University of Connecticut. I was born in Hartford, CT, and have lived in Windsor, CT, for my entire life. I received my high school diploma from Windsor High School in 2022.
My favorite volunteer activity has been at Windham Heights After School Tutorial Program. I love working with children, and this program has given me the opportunity to support and tutor elementary-aged students. I also work as a postpartum student nurse technician at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, where I am able to provide care to my patients as I work alongside the nurses. In addition, through working as a resident assistant for the Nursing Learning Community here at UConn, I am able to foster a community with the residents in my hall.
I sought involvement in UST/AS because I believe that we have the ability to take on a bigger purpose to being a nurse. My goal is to become a nurse practitioner; therefore, I want to gain as much knowledge as I possibly can to help underserved populations. I want to be properly educated as a healthcare professional on how to help these communities in order to teach nurses who come after me how to do the same. That knowledge can then be passed down through generations of future nurses. Each and every step in that direction will lead us to the improvement of community health overall.
