Quinnipiac University Physician Assistant

I was born in Pine Bush, New York, and received my Bachelor of Science in Health Science

Throughout my professional career, I have worked as a variety of medical aides: I have been a physical therapy aide, a personal care aide, and an occupational therapy aide. In each of these roles, I focused not just on the patient’s diagnosis, but on their overall bodily wellness and capacity to do everyday tasks. I have also had many volunteer opportunities, both in and out of clinics. I have volunteered in an emergency room, where I helped make sure the patients and doctors had the resources they needed. I have also built houses in Battle Creek Michigan through Habitat for Humanity, and been a Graduate Liaison for Quinnipiac’s Big Event, a campus-wide day of community service.

I made the choice to become a physician assistant because I wanted to make a difference. During my time at Quinnipiac, I learned that physician assistants have the ability to change lives both inside and outside our offices. Through my direct patient-contact hours, I have learned that one of the most important aspects of medicine is patient education; It is vital that I educate patients on how to care for themselves after they leave my office. I believe the UST’s focus on patient education will make me as effective an educator as I will be a physician assistant. As well, I want the difference I make in the world to extend outside the clinic, as today, clinics are inaccessible to many communities due prohibitive health care costs. The UST will give me the skills and knowledge to reach out to such communities and address their ever-changing needs. I hope to become an exemplary PA, one who can embody to other PAs the impact they can make on their communities.
