UConn School of Pharmacy

I am originally from Niantic, Connecticut. I am active with the Alpha Zeta Omega professional pharmaceutical fraternity, where I am the philanthropy chair for the UConn chapter. In this position, I help lead, plan, and establish our chapter’s charity and outreach efforts. I also serve as the secretary for UConn’s chapter of the Chikombuso service club. This organization performs fundraising efforts and health initiatives for orphaned children and single mother in Zambia, Africa. Earlier in my time at UConn, I took part in a semester-long community service project focused on opioid abuse. We sought to educate members of the UConn and surrounding communities by holding panels of qualified healthcare professionals, advertising drug take back events, and connecting soup kitchens and homeless shelters with individuals for Narcan training.
I originally sought involvement in the Urban Service Track/AHEC Scholars (UST/AS) Program in order to learn how to advocate for underserved groups and their unmet needs, and to develop clinical skills that will help me work not only with underserved populations, but also with the general public. I believe the UST/AS Program will help me understand how to work with interprofessional healthcare groups, provide education on health determinants, and develop skills that will make me a better pharmacist.
