Hannah Ayers
UConn School of Pharmacy
I was born in Providence, Rhode Island and grew up in Uxbridge, Massachusetts. Through the UConn School of Pharmacy, I will gain my Bachelor of Science degree in 2021 and my Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2023.
Throughout high school, I worked and volunteered at my town’s public library, where I frequently interacted with my community and collaborated on programs encouraging childhood reading. I also volunteered at a local organization called Beginning Bridges, which provided free services to low-income families ranging from playgroups to educational programs for children ages eight and younger. At UConn, I have been involved with Habitat for Humanity, through which I work at the Windham location on local builds and, during school breaks, travel to priority areas. I currently work in a community pharmacy as a pharmacy intern.
I have been interested in the Urban Service Track/AHEC Scholars (UST/AS) Program since I began looking into pharmacy schools. The real-world, interprofessional experience the UST/AS Program offers will allow me to learn about healthcare as a whole, helping me take a holistic approach to treatment with my patients. I also want to expand my capacity to serve and care for individuals suffering from co-morbidities and social circumstances that impact their health.
