Shreya Nagri
UConn School of Medicine
I was born in Queens, NY, and raised for the majority of my childhood in Nashua, NH. For college, I attended the University of Connecticut, where I earned a bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering, with a minor in English.
I have had extensive volunteer experience at community health fairs, as an emergency medical technician, and through America Reads. These opportunities have given me experience working with underserved populations, especially in situations involving a language barrier or other barriers to regular healthcare access.
I want to be a part of the cohort of Area Health Education Center Scholars on the Urban Service Track because of the strong emphasis on ensuring that communities are centered at the heart of healthcare delivery, and patients are given access and education accordingly. Through this program, I hope to be able to give back to underserved communities like my own, build skills to advocate for patients in my future practice, and be a part of building a more equitable healthcare system.
