Jamila Davis
UConn School of Pharmacy
Jamila Davis was born in Boston, MA. She moved to Charlotte, NC, at approximately 10 years old, where she spent her young adolescent years. At the age of 17, she attended American International College in Springfield, MA, as a biochemistry major in the Honors Program. While at AIC, Jamila joined the rugby team, became an RA (resident assistant), and served as vice president of the campus’s longest-running organization, Persons Ready in Defense of Ebony (P.R.I.D.E.). She also volunteered at the Springfield Boys & Girls Club, assisting with the reading program.
After graduating in 2020, Jamila worked in quality control for four years, and entered pharmacy school in the fall of 2024. At UConn, she has worked as a pharmacy intern at CVS, and as student manager for the H. Fred Simons African American Cultural Center. She serves on the Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) Clinic Board, and is vice president of Silver Wings.
As for why she joined UST, Jamila says: “Growing up, I have witnessed discrimination against my mother and grandmother, and have faced it myself. I want to show others from my socioeconomic and cultural background that there are healthcare professionals who share similarities with them and bring forth positive experiences.”
