Healthcare Delivery
Adults’ Access to Preventive/Ambulatory Health Services (AAP)
Summary of Results
The following information represents patients 20 years of age and older who had an ambulatory or preventive care visit. The time period was the past year for Medicare patients and the past year or two for patients with private health insurance coverage.
- The percentage of patients who had an ambulatory or preventive care visit increased slightly with age.
- In 2015, the year prior to the CT SIM implementation, the percentage of adults with private insurance who had an ambulatory or preventive visit ranged from a low of 96.9% for 20-44 year-olds to a high of 98.7% for 45-64 year-olds. Since the implementation of SIM, the percentage of adults with access to care using private insurance remained steady for both the 20-44 and 45 to 64 age groups; however, the percentage increased slightly for those using Medicare in all age groups.
- The percentage of Medicare patients who had an ambulatory or preventive visit, ranged from a low of 93.4% for 20-44 year-olds to a high of 98.1% for patients 65 and older in 2015, and in 2017 increased to 94.0% and 98.3% respectively.
