Professor Marja Hurley received the Doctor of Medicine from the UConn School of Medicine where she also completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism with Professor Lawrence Raisz and upon completion of the fellowship, joined the faculty.
Dr. Hurley is currently professor of Medicine and Orthopaedics in the UConn School of Medicine. She is a member of the Institute for Systems Genomics as well as the graduate faculty in Cell Biology and Skeletal Craniofacial and Oral Biology at UConn.
Professor Hurley is an elected fellow of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research and an elected fellow of the Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering. Professor Hurley is the 2016 Recipient of the Lawrence G. Raisz, Esteemed Award American Society of Bone and Mineral Research for outstanding achievement in preclinical translational research. She has also been the recipient of numerous awards for mentoring students in STEM especially women and underrepresented students.
