Scholarship Entry Details

In partnership with both the School of Dental Medicine and School of Medicine, the Office of Student Financial Aid Services will offer two $1,000.00 scholarships in the fall and spring terms to students who participate in the Financial Wellness Program.  One medical and one dental student will be randomly selected and awarded the scholarship.  Students can only receive the scholarship once per academic year.

Participation in the Financial Wellness Program consists of completing different challenges.  These range from completing term specific coursework, to attending AAMC webinars and seminars, to submitting budget paperwork.  Challenges are optional, but those who choose to participate will receive one scholarship entry for each challenge completed.  The more entries, the more chances a student has to receive the scholarship.

There are two tiers of  challenges; standard and bonus.  Once the standard challenge requirement has been successfully completed students will have the opportunity to complete bonus challenges for additional entries.

In the fall a student must complete no less than two separate assigned AAMC courses to be eligible to earn bonus entries.  Students can complete more AAMC coursework and attend the AAMC webinars to earn more entries as well.  In the spring a student must complete either one assigned AAMC course AND attend the AAMC loan repayment seminar OR complete two assigned AAMC courses.  Again, students can complete more AAMC coursework and attend the AAMC webinars to earn more entries as well.

If a student completes at least three  bonus challenges, they will get one extra entry for the scholarship. If they complete at least six bonus challenges, they will get two extra entries. And if all nine bonus challenges are completed, then the student will get four extra entries for the scholarship.

Please make sure to read and follow the instructions for each bonus challenge.  Remember you must complete the Bonus Entry Item form each and every bonus challenge completed.  If the bonus challenge you complete requires additional documentation please submit that via the secure document upload.

Over the course of the academic year the AAMC will hold webinars covering a wide range of topics.  Previous sessions have included credit, home buying, investment opportunities, insurance and paying taxes.  A full calendar for the academic year is posted to the Central Hub.  Students who register and attend a AAMC webinar will receive an entry in the scholarship drawing.  All you need to do is register for the webinar and  upload a screenshot of the Zoom webinar screen with your screen name clearly displayed.
