Liver, Pancreas, and Bile Duct Surgery
Our surgeons are trained in a variety of liver disorders including tumors and cysts. They specialize in evaluating liver masses, both cancerous and non-cancerous, to determine the best course of treatment. They also have expertise in treating diseases of the pancreas, such as pancreatic cancer surgery, and pancreatic mass analysis.
Cancer can also occur in the bile duct, causing a blockage. When a bile duct becomes blocked by a tumor, a gallstone, or even an abnormal narrowing of the passage called a stricture, it can create havoc in the body. A bile duct removal or a biliary bypass may be required to correct the problem, and the liver, pancreas, and bile duct surgeons at UConn Health frequently treat these conditions.
