Janice specializes in substance misuse treatment research and program evaluation, with a focus on translating evidence-based Screening and Brief Intervention (SBI) protocols into clinical practice. She has contributed to multiple SBI clinical trials and implementation initiatives funded by the World Health Organization, CDC, SAMHSA (CSAT and CMHS), and NIAAA. Her experience includes roles as an SBI Trainer, Data Analyst, and Program Evaluator, supporting the development, implementation, and evaluation of SBIRT services across diverse healthcare settings, including FQHCs and behavioral health treatment agencies. She has also collaborated with the WHO on the development and validation of screening instruments and brief intervention protocols for alcohol, tobacco, and other psychoactive substances (WHO ASSIST, ASSIST-FC). She has experience collaborating with federal, state and local agencies to use measurement-based care to improve mental health and substance use outcomes. The Academy benefits from her expertise in proper administration and scoring of screening tests, and knowledge of how substances affect the body.

She maintains her Certification in Public Health (CPH) and is a member of Delta Omega, the Honorary Society in Public Health (Beta Rho chapter).
