Prakhar Bansal

M.D./Ph.D. Graduate Student

Genetics and Genome Sciences

B.S. – Molecular and Cell Biology
M.S. – Molecular and Cell Biology (conc. Structural Biology, Biochemistry, and Biophysics)

Prakhar graduated UConn with his B.S. and M.S. in 2016. At UConn, he did his undergraduate honors thesis in Dr. Eric May’s lab where he studied the structural dynamics of the Norwalk virus capsid protein. He also worked in Dr. Daniel Schwartz’s lab to develop web bioinformatics tools for proteomics. In the fall of 2016, Prakhar entered the UConn School of Medicine as an MD student, later moving to the MD/PhD program. He joined the Pinter lab in August 2018 as a rotation student, and never left. He is studying erosion of X-chromosome inactivation in female human stem cells and escape from X-inactivation by integrating an assortment of genomic data including DNA methylation, and RNA expression.
