Senior Week Activities
The week leading up to graduation is often referred to as Senior Week. Each year a variety of social activities occur during this Monday-to-Friday time period. It is an opportunity for classmates to reconnect during the week leading up to commencement. The activities planned are completely up to members of the class to decide upon. Historically, the events have been organized by the graduating classes' former MDSG officers and/or the fourth year student representatives to the Commencement Committee. In the past, social activities have included local winery tours, casino trip, picnics and softball games, karaoke nights, golf and bowling tournaments, Yard Goats games, beach trips, happy hours, day time hikes, gatherings, games and barbeques at local parks.
The Schools of Medicine and Dental Medicine hold separate graduation brunches at off-site locations prior to graduation. Specific information regarding the locations of these brunches can be obtained from the individual schools. The Medical School event is held midday on Friday while the Dental School holds their event on Saturday morning.
The English Tea and Concert is typically held on Saturday at 3 p.m. The event is open to all students and their guests and is held in the UConn Health Onyiuke Dining Room, featuring the music of Dr. Alan Lurie and his chamber music group, the Noteworthy Ensemble. It is an afternoon of instrumental, vocal and dance music. The concert is followed by a high tea.
The Commencement Ceremony is scheduled for Monday, May 13, 2019 at 1 p.m. at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts, 2132 Hillside Road, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT. A celebratory reception is scheduled in the Student Union, third floor Ballrooms, immediately following the ceremony. All are invited.
