X-Ray

An X-ray is a diagnostic test that allows doctors to see the more dense structures inside of your body. They are most frequently used to see bones, but can also be used to see the heart, lungs, and digestive tract. X-rays use radiation, so they are generally not performed on women who are expecting.

What You Need To Know Before Your Exam

  • Remove all metal objects before your X-ray.
  • Depending on the part of your body being examined, you may be asked to change into a gown once you arrive.
  • Continue to take all of your prescribed medications.
