Kyle M. Baumbauer, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing and the Center for the Advancement in Managing Pain at the University of Connecticut, with a joint appointment in the Department of Neuroscience at UConn Health. Dr. Baumbauer is also a member of the Institute for Systems Genomics and the Connecticut Institute for the Brain and Cognitive Sciences. Research in Dr. Baumbauer’s laboratory explores behavioral, pharmacological, molecular, and electrophysiological processes that underlie acute and persistent pain states. Most recently, he has focused on the contribution of peripheral sensory neurons to the initiation and maintenance of spinal cord injury-induced pain. focuses to these processes using a systems level approach to examine alterations in behavior, molecular and cellular processes, and electrophysiological properties following spinal cord injury. Ongoing projects in the lab are supported by awards from NIH, The Rita Allen Foundation, UConn, and UConn Health.
