Across these 6 public health areas departmental faculty and students investigate cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic pain, addictions and sexual health.<\/p>\n<p>The Department\u2019s research is funded by federal, state, local and private sources including the National Institutes of Health (NIDA, NIAAA, NIMH, NIEHS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the State of Connecticut Departments of Children and Families (DCF), Public Health (DPH) and Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), Arthritis Foundation, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the Macy Foundation. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/public-health-sciences\/publications\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">List of Recent Publications<\/a> reveal the breadth and depth of intra-departmental collaborations and the Department\u2019s work with universities nationally and internationally. During 2017 and 2018, the Department\u2019s faculty have published 150 articles in peer reviewed journals, along with letters and editorials that have appeared in high impact journals such as <span class=\"style1\">Nature<\/span>, <span class=\"style1\">Science<\/span>, <span class=\"style1\">JAMA<\/span>, <span class=\"style1\">Lancet<\/span> and the <span class=\"style1\">American Journal of Public Health<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The Department manages the editorial offices of two peer-reviewed journals (<span class=\"style1\">Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs<\/span> and <span class=\"style1\">Journal of Personality<\/span>).
