Welcome to The Paulino Lab at UConn Health.<\/h2>\n

We are a membrane protein biophysics and structural biology research group investigating viral-host protein interactions that allow viruses to bypass the host\u2019s native immunity.<\/p>\n

Currently, we focus on the ability of Zika virus to bypass the placental barrier causing microcephaly in the developing embryo. For this purpose, we combine cryo-electron microscopy and solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance, protein biophysics, and eukaryotic cell culture to characterize the molecular mechanisms relevant to this disease.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
