With a focus on prevention as well as prompt treatment, we work with employers, organized labor, and other medical providers to promote and maintain a healthy workforce. Our professional staff includes experienced physicians who are board-certified in occupational medicine and primary care, advanced practice nurses, industrial hygienists, and ergonomists. Our clinical services range from treating minor work injuries to evaluating complex occupationally-related medical conditions.<\/p>\n<h3>Services Provided<\/h3>\n<p><strong>The services listed below are performed in our Farmington clinic<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Consultation for integrating occupational health and safety with health promotion interventions<\/li>\n<li>Pre-placement physical exams<\/li>\n<li>Medical surveillance exams (lead, asbestos, hazmat, firefighters)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/occupational-environmental\/employee-assistance-program\/\">Employee Assistance Program<\/a> (EAP) offers help with personal, emotional, family, or substance abuse problems<\/li>\n<li>Fitness for duty exams<\/li>\n<li>Consultations for assessment and control of workplace of reproductive hazards<\/li>\n<li>Health and safety training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our clinic serves many populations. We act as the Employee Health Service for UConn Health, and provide similar services to\u00a0students and residents\u00a0at the main campus in Farmington. We also serve employees of other\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/occupational-environmental\/clinical-services\/non-uconn-employee-health-services\/\">Connecticut agencies, municipalities, other employers<\/a>, and UConn Health volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike most medical offices, we reach far beyond the walls of our own clinics. Our experts in ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and air quality can provide <a href=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/occupational-environmental\/consultation-and-outreach\/\">work-site consultations<\/a> to help employers prevent and manage occupational illness.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-197-1\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-has-style\" ><div class=\"hide panel-row-style panel-row-style-for-197-1\" ><div id=\"pgc-197-1-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-197-1-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_black-studio-tinymce widget_black_studio_tinymce panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"1\" ><div class=\"textwidget\"><h3>A Stool with Three Legs<\/h3>\n<p>The Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine is fully engaged in education and research as well as clinical care. UConn Health\u2019s mission has three parts: clinical care, education and research. We believe that each part enhances the others and that the best care is care that is constantly refined by the educational process and informed by research. We train medical students and residents in the concepts of occupational medicine so that whatever their future direction, they will be better able to recognize and manage the relationship between work and health.<\/p>\n<p>In conjunction with the UConn Storrs campus, we train\u00a0graduate students\u00a0in bioengineering and industrial psychology.
