Gastroenterology and Hepatology

The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology research efforts cover multiple areas. These areas include primary funding to the division members, collaborative projects with funding awarded to other areas, and clinical outcomes research often involving fellows and residents which includes teaching elements. We are also developing new medical devices.

Primary funding projects include:

Haleh Vaziri, M.D. (PI)/Li-Shu Wang (Co-Investigator)
Title: A Trial of Freeze-Dried Black Raspberry in the Maintenance of Remission of Ulcerative Colitis

George Wu, M.D., Ph.D.,  and Cathy Wu (Co-PIs)
Title: Targeted Transplantation of Mitochondria to Liver Cells

Longstanding collaborative funding efforts with Daniel Rosenberg, Ph.D., in the Center for Molecular Medicine exist. These projects involve true partnerships where regular seminars take place and strategies for future research directions are developed in a group manner. These collaborations have resulted in funded grants with subawards to various gastroenterology faculty members.
