The Division of Hypertension and Clinical Pharmacology has a long history of academic excellence, clinical and research productivity, and important educational initiatives. With an average of three full-time faculty members based at the UConn Health campus and one clinical research fellow, the division provides clinical consultative care every day of the week, teaches medical students, residents and fellows, and conducts clinical and translational research funded by the National Institutes of Health, private industry, and medical research foundations.
During the past five years the division faculty have garnered over $5 million in direct research funding and published 98 original, peer-reviewed papers in the medical literature as well as numerous book chapters. In addition, a peer-reviewed medical journal, Blood Pressure Monitoring (Wolter Kluwers Publisher, William B. White, Editor-in-Chief) is in its 20th year and emanates from the division. A textbook series entitled Clinical Hypertension and Vascular Diseases (Springer Science Publishers, William B. White, Series Editor) is another example of the academic excellence that is associated with the division.
