What is Tiger Text
Tiger Text is a Mobile and Web Based app that gives you all of the speed and convenience of text messaging in a HIPAA compliant manner.
UConn Health Approach
This is a new way for Residents and Faculty to communicate via a multi-platform, secure, real-time text messaging system. Tiger Text enhances employee communication and productivity, while maintaining compliance with HIPPA, and is available on most mobile device platforms.
*Please note that MobileIron must be installed on your mobile device to use this App.
What devices are supported?
Apple Devices(iOS)
Minimum operating system (OS) required – iOS 6.0 or newer is recommended for any Apple Device.
Supported devices include, but are not limited to:
- iPad 1, 2, 3, 4
- iPad Air
- iPad Mini and Mini with Retina
- iPhone 4, 4S, 5, 5C, 5S
- iPod Touch 3, 4, 5
Android Devices
Minimum operating system (OS) required – 2.3 and above.
Supported devices include, but are not limited to:
- HTC Evo 4G LTE, Incredible
- Motorola Droid Razr
- Samsung Galaxy S2, S3
- Samsung Note II, III
- Nexus7 Tablet
What web browsers are compatible with Tiger Text’s Web Console?
Compatible web browsers include Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer (IE), and Safari.

What should I expect after installing Tiger Text?
- Secure text messaging from your smartphone, tablet or computer
- Tracks the status of the message so you know if it has been read
- Allows you to send photos and audio files securely
- Does not use cell phone text messages or minutes
- Option to turn on “Do Not Disturb” with a custom auto-reply message when you are not available
