Clinical Business and Integration Systems

Clinical Business Systems and Integration consists of four distinct teams. Each offers a variety of technical support products and services to the UConn Health clinical enterprise. These services range from researching to designing, developing, and implementing clinical systems solutions as well as providing ongoing maintenance and operational support for the UConn Health portfolio of clinical applications.

Integration Services

The Integration Team develops, maintains and supports over 300 HL7, XML, real time and batch file clinical system interfaces. This team provides 24/7 support and is responsible for ensuring that all of the patient data that flows between critical patient-centered applications does so reliably and securely.

If you have any type of data integration support, development, or upgrade need, please direct your request to the IT Help Desk at 860-679-4400.

NextGen Systems

The NextGen Development Team is responsible for the technical implementation, support, and customization of the EMR application which is in the process of being rolled out to all UConn Health’s physician offices. For more information about the rollout status, please visit the NextGen project. Any requests for enhancements should be directed to the Project Management office through this site.

The implementation of NextGen throughout all outpatient offices will provide a securely maintained electronic computer version of a patient’s health information which will be standardized across UConn Health physician offices. It will also enable sharing of information, subject to appropriate HIPAA compliance control and patient authorization, to external partners and agencies.

For any NextGen production support issues or needs, please contact the IT Help Desk at 860-679-4400.

Siemens Systems

The Siemens Inpatient Builder Team is responsible for the ongoing support and development of the core set of EHR application modules installed at UConn John Dempsey Hospital.  These application modules support the delivery of care to both private and Correctional Managed Health Care patients. This intricate suite of systems provides our care givers with a wide range of features such as Computerized Physician Order Entry, Patient Discharge Instructions, Patient Care Documentation, Medication Reconciliation, and many other key capabilities which enable the delivery of safe, efficient, quality care to our patients.

All requests for support and enhancements to these applications should be directed to our Help Desk at 860-679-4400.

Clinical Systems

The Clinical Applications Team is responsible for a portfolio of key patient systems used throughout the enterprise. These systems include a variety of ancillary applications including ED Pulsecheck and eHIMS which are critical to UConn Health’s clinical operation.

The eHIMS, application, which was deployed in May of 2009, provides a central electronic repository for all inpatient records. This system is also utilized by various administrative groups for billing and service information validation and reporting needs. The eHIMS application accepts data and reports of all formats and stores it electronically for each encounter at UConn Health.

Beyond standard day-to-day support of their clinical applications portfolio this team also addresses enhancement needs, provides project management of upgrades, and services customized data analysis and reporting needs related to their supported applications.

All requests for support and enhancements should be directed to our Help Desk at 860-679-4400.
