What is a project? A project is a temporary endeavor to create a unique product, service or programs.
Project management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to meet a specific goal.
Project attributes include:
Temporary effort – has a start and finish
Resources are required
There is uncertainty and complexity
Alignment with organizational strategy
Projects will typically require greater than 80 hours of resource time, coordination across multiple teams, and capital expenditures.
In our organization a project typically performs one or more of these functions:
Develop a new system or service
Improvements to a system or service
Improve business processes or introduce new ones
Build or enhance infrastructure
Apply new technology
Upgrade enterprise applications

How do I obtain support for work requests that are not large enough to be considered projects? Small requests for support which do not meet the criteria of a project should be requested via the IT Help Desk or by using the appropriate Epic Change Request Form.
How about department moves? Small department moves can be requested via the existing Epic form, however large scale moves or new practices will also require a project intake form for work to be appropriately prioritized and resourced.
What can I expect after the Project Intake form has been submitted? Once the Intake form is complete and submitted, the PMO, working with the IT teams, will perform an initial assessment to determine scope of work, budget and implementation timeline. The request will be subject to the IT Governance process for work prioritization. You will be kept appraised of each step in the process, and may be requested to participate in prioritization meetings.
