Turner from Turner Building Science, developed a check sheet approach (Scale) to assess school buildings for mold and moisture. NIOSH refined the approach and completed research supporting the utility of qualitative assessment for mold and moisture. The Center for Indoor Environments and Health has facilitated some NIOSH efforts. The NIOSH Dampness and Mold Assessment Tools (DMAT) is available to help schools improve indoor environment by identifying areas with moisture and mold in classroom and school buildings.

Guidance for Clinicians on the Recognition and Management of Health Effects Related to Mold Exposure and Moisture Indoors

Mold Exposure Patient Documentation Tables

UConn Center for Indoor Environments and Health Publications, Resources, and Links

Government Agency and Emergency Response GuidanceEnvironmental Protection Agency (EPA): Molds and MoistureCenter for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): MoldU.S. Department of Housing and Consolidated Safety Services: Safe Rehabilitation of Hurricane-Damaged HomesNational Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS): Hurricane SandyWorker ResourcesOccupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)Factsheet: Mold Hazards During Disaster CleanupHurricane eMatrix: Hazard Exposure & Risk Assessment Matrix […]
