Note: If you are not on-site at UCONN Health Center, or if you are using the Guest WiFi network on campus, you will need to first connect to the CAM VPN<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Windows Connect to a Virtual Machine (VM) using Remote Desktop Connection<\/h2>\n

1. Select the Start Menu icon, at the bottom left of your screen.<\/p>\n

2. Search for “Remote Desktop Connection”.<\/p>\n

3. Next to Computer: <\/em>enter the provided hostname to your virtual machine.<\/p>\n

4. Select the “Connect” button.<\/p>\n

5. A Windows Security<\/em> window will pop up, requesting your credentials. First select the “More choices” link, then select “Use a different account”.<\/p>\n

6. Type your CAM username as the following: cam\\username <\/strong>and then enter your CAM password. Select “OK”.<\/p>\n

7. Optional: If this is a private computer and a resource you will be connecting to often, you can select the checkbox next to Remember me.<\/em><\/p>\n

8. Your virtual machine connection should now open.<\/p>\n

Saving your RDP as a Shortcut<\/h3>\n

1. Open the Remote Desktop Connection<\/strong> application.<\/p>\n

2. Next to Computer:\u00a0<\/em>enter the provided hostname to your virtual machine.<\/p>\n

3. Select the down arrow next to Show Options<\/em>.<\/p>\n

4. Next to User name: <\/em>enter your CAM username as the following: cam\\username<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

5. At the bottom of the window, under Connection settings<\/em> select the “Save As..” button.<\/p>\n

6. Choose the location you would like to save your shortcut, we suggest using the Desktop<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

7. Enter the name for your connection next to File name:. <\/em>It is suggested to name it something descriptive, such as the hostname or URL of your virtual machine. Then select the “Save” button.<\/p>\n

8. Your shortcut will now be saved.<\/p>\n

9. Navigate to your shortcut location, and double-click the icon to open.<\/p>\n

10. A Windows Security<\/em> window will pop up, requesting your credentials.\u00a0 Enter your CAM account password.<\/p>\n

11. Select the checkbox next to Remember me: <\/em> if you do not want to enter your password each time you open the virtual machine. Select “OK”.<\/p>\n

12. Your virtual machine connection should now open.<\/p>\n

\"MacOS Connect to a Virtual Machine (VM) using Remote Desktop Connection<\/h2>\n

1. You will first need to download the Microsoft Remote Desktop <\/strong>app from the Apple AppStore.<\/p>\n

2. Once downloaded, open up the application.<\/p>\n

3. Select the “+” button at the top of the Microsoft Remote Desktop app then, select “Add PC”.<\/p>\n

4. Enter the following information:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • PC name<\/em>: Hostname to the VM<\/li>\n
  • Friendly name:<\/em> A descriptive name, usually the name of the VM<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    5. Optional: In the User account<\/em> drop-down, you can enter your username and password to be saved automatically.<\/p>\n

    6. Select the “Add” button.<\/p>\n

    7. Double-click the newly added desktop.<\/p>\n

    8. If you did not enter your username or password before, ensure to enter your CAM username as: cam\\username<\/strong> and your CAM password.<\/p>\n

    9. You may be prompted to verify the certificate. Select the “Continue” button in blue.<\/p>\n
