{"id":193,"date":"2015-12-15T09:39:22","date_gmt":"2015-12-15T14:39:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.hpc.uchc.uconn.edu\/?page_id=193"},"modified":"2026-03-06T12:24:52","modified_gmt":"2026-03-06T17:24:52","slug":"faq","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/high-performance-computing\/faq\/","title":{"rendered":"FAQ"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>How can I reset my password?<strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-359 size-full alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/high-performance-computing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/156\/2015\/12\/faq_sm.jpg\" alt=\"3D character in back of a big red question mark\" width=\"92\" height=\"222\" \/><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>If your account is new or you have forgotten your password you may reset it by visiting our self service portal:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/password.cam.uchc.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CAM Self Service Portal<\/a><\/p>\n<p>For instructions on how to enroll or reset your password, you can follow this tutorial: <a href=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/high-performance-computing\/tutorials\/enroll-or-reset-cam-password\/\">Enroll or Reset CAM Password<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>What are the password complexity requirements?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Passwords should not contain the User&#8217;s account\u00a0 name or parts of the User&#8217;s full name that exceed two consecutive characters.<\/li>\n<li>Passwords should be at least 6 characters in length.<\/li>\n<li>Passwords should contain characters from three of the following four categories:\n<ul>\n<li>Uppercase characters, English (A through Z)<\/li>\n<li>Lowercase characters, English (a through z)<\/li>\n<li>Base 10 digits (0 through 9)<\/li>\n<li>Non-alphanumeric characters (such as ! # $ %)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These complexity requirements are enforced when passwords are changed or created.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What is a UCONN NETID? And how do I find mine?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>CAM and Xanadu users are now required to have a UCONN NETID to obtain an account. The UCONN NETID is a unique identifier that is given when the user is registered with UCONN. The format is 3 letters and then 5 numbers, for example: abc23002<\/p>\n<p>You can locate your UCONN NETID by going to the following website and entering your first and last name, and your birth date: <a href=\"https:\/\/netid.uconn.edu\">https:\/\/netid.uconn.edu<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>What resources are provided by the UConn Health High Performance Computing Facility?<\/h3>\n<p>We currently offer access to the following computing resources:<\/p>\n<p><em>High Performance Cluster Computing<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Access to parallel computing clusters designed to speed up calculation intensive operations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Cloud Storage<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>S3 bucket storage similar to resources offered by Amazon and Dropbox<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Virtual Machines<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Self-supported, virtual Linux instances made available for you to run your applications<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Where can I find documentation on using the Xanadu Cluster and SLURM Job Manager?<\/h3>\n<p>You can find a tutorial on the Xanadu HPC Cluster and SLURM Job Manager <a href=\"https:\/\/bioinformatics.uconn.edu\/resources-and-events\/tutorials\/xanadu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>What costs are associated with use of the UConn Health High Performance Computing Facility?<\/h3>\n<p>The High performance Computing Facility resources are available free of charge to UConn researchers, students and affiliates of the University.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>How do I get a UConn Health High Performance Computing cluster account?<\/h3>\n<p>Navigate to the Submit a Ticket page then fill in the information requested and click the Submit button.
