{"id":1728,"date":"2021-08-17T11:46:06","date_gmt":"2021-08-17T15:46:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/healthcare-compliance-privacy\/?p=1728"},"modified":"2021-08-17T11:46:06","modified_gmt":"2021-08-17T15:46:06","slug":"1728","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/healthcare-compliance-privacy\/2021\/08\/17\/1728\/","title":{"rendered":"FairWarning and axiUm"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/healthcare-compliance-privacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/253\/2021\/08\/FairWarning-and-axiUm-300x210.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"210\" class=\"wp-image-1741 size-medium alignright\" \/>Effective September 1, 2021, UConn Health will begin monitoring access to axiUm using FairWarning, a privacy monitoring tool that will enhance UConn Health\u2019s ability to detect and respond to potential privacy violations, such as inappropriate access to patient records.<\/p>\n<p>To help you understand FairWarning, the UConn Health Privacy team has prepared the following educational materials:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/healthcare-compliance-privacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/253\/2021\/07\/FairWarning-FAQ-for-Managers.pdf\">FairWarning FAQs for Managers<\/a>;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/healthcare-compliance-privacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/253\/2021\/07\/No-Snooping.pdf\">A reminder about inappropriate \u201csnooping\u201d into patient records<\/a>; and<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/healthcare-compliance-privacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/253\/2021\/08\/Accessing-Your-Own-Medical-Record.pdf\">An important reminder about employees accessing their own or a family member\u2019s medical record<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, please review <a href=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/healthcare-compliance-privacy\/2021\/06\/25\/snooping-and-the-patient-lookup-feature-in-epic-and-axium\/\">Snooping and the Patient Lookup Feature in Epic and axiUm<\/a>. Remember: searching for a patient by name or other identifier in the patient look up field (i.e. Rolodex) without a job-related need is snooping. Although the patient look up field does not open the patient chart, it is part of the electronic health record and displays protected health information (PHI).
