In return, we hope these students will enter their career field more eager and prepared to tackle the social determinants of health that affect the health of our patients.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Winter Intensive Program will run for 4 weeks between December 2026 - January 2027<\/span>, and participants will gain <strong>64<\/strong><strong style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0hours<\/strong> of direct patient care experience through volunteering at both Burgdorf Health Center's Internal Medicine Clinic and Pediatrics Clinic. <span>Participants will spen<\/span><span>d\u00a0<\/span><span>2 weeks in Internal Medicine and 2 weeks in Pediatrics.<\/span> They will be <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">required to complete <strong>eight 8-hour volunteer shifts<\/strong> in total during the course of the program. There will also be two mandatory meetings. <\/span>There will not be any shifts on 12\/24, 12\/25, or 1\/1.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Participants in this program will also have the opportunity to learn about social determinants of health and at-risk populations through our educational curriculum.
