Priority consideration will be given to pathway participants.<\/li>\n<li>The MCAT\/DAT track is an intensive seven-week summer program.<\/li>\n<li>The MCAT\/DAT Preparation Program is for students who will be taking the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) or Dental Admission Test (DAT). The program focuses on MCAT test preparation or DAT test preparation, application essay workshop, mock interviews, professional development workshops, and some exposure to clinical medicine or dental medicine.<\/li>\n<li>The purpose of the program is to facilitate the entry of these students into medical and dental schools by improving their performance on admissions tests and through professional development activities.<\/li>\n<li>Provides housing, meals, and a stipend.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>See an example of the program schedule in the <a href=\"https:\/\/acrobat.adobe.com\/link\/track?uri=urn:aaid:scds:US:844444a7-6640-3ca2-a354-5e42e3728333\">Handbook<\/a>.<\/em><br \/>\n<!--\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align: none;\"><a class=\"btn btn-blue btn15\" href=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/hcop\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/61\/2021\/06\/2021-MDPP-Handbook-for-Web.pdf\">Handbook<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n--><\/p>\n<h3>Important Dates<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>November 1, 2025: The application opens for submissions.<\/li>\n<li>February 16, 2026: The application submission deadline. All applications must be submitted by midnight February 16, 2026 to be considered for admission.<\/li>\n<li>May 31, 2026: First day of program for the MCAT\/DAT track.<\/li>\n<li>July 17, 2026: Last day of program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Application Criteria<\/h3>\n<p>All Applicants Should:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be college sophomores, juniors, seniors, or recent graduates of pre-professional programs with a \u2018B+\u2019 average or better (Science GPA of 3.2 or better and overall GPA of 3.3 or better).<\/li>\n<li><span>Have completed General Biology I &amp; II, General Chemistry I &amp; II, Organic Chemistry I &amp; II for both programs and at least Physics I for the medical preparation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Have high motivation and demonstrate potential for pursuing a career in medicine or dental medicine.<\/li>\n<li>Be first-generation, college, low income, and educationally under-resourced students who meet all eligibility criteria and have a high probability of fulfilling the social and educational goals of this program.<\/li>\n<li>Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How to Apply<\/h3>\n<p>Please review the <a href=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/hcop\/frequently-asked-questions-temp\/\">Frequently Asked Questions<\/a> before submitting your application. Please also review this <a href=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/hcop\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/61\/2023\/11\/General-Application-3.doc\">application template<\/a> to preview the questions and items needed for your online application.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Submit a completed online <a href=\"https:\/\/s.uconn.edu\/hcopsummerprograms\">application<\/a> electronically.<\/li>\n<li>Submit supplemental material electronically with online application submission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Score reports for all exams taken: SAT, PEAU, ACT, GRE, and MCAT\/DAT.<\/li>\n<li>An official transcript from each college or university attended.*<\/li>\n<li>Two letters of recommendation (at least one from a science instructor) submitted directly by recommenders via specified link.<\/li>\n<li>Provide a copy of your Federal Income Tax Form 1040 or equivalent for the current tax year \u2013 only page reflecting number of dependents and adjusted gross income (submit 1040 when completed and filed).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> Only completed applications with supplemental materials submitted through the online application system will be reviewed.<\/p>\n<p><em>* Only official transcripts as e-scripts will be submitted to <a href=\"mailto:hcop@uchc.edu\">hcop@uchc.edu<\/a>.
