Interns will participate in research activities of a laboratory at UConn Health under the direction of a faculty member. The purpose of the program is to provide a research experience and the opportunity to learn about ongoing research programs at UConn Health.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"hr\">Eligibility<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Only U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and international students on <strong>F-1 student visas<\/strong> are eligible to apply.<b>\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\"><\/li>\n<li>International students holding an <strong>F-1 student visa<\/strong> and currently <strong>enrolled as undergraduates at a U.S. college or university<\/strong> must obtain Curricular Practical Training (CPT) authorization from their institution.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants should consult their school\u2019s international student advisor to confirm current CPT policies, eligibility, and authorization procedures.\n<ul><\/ul>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>All applicants must be current freshmen, sophomores, or juniors. Applicants who will have graduated by the time the program begins are not eligible.<\/li>\n<li>All applicants should have completed some college coursework in biology and chemistry, preferably through organic chemistry.<\/li>\n<li>Previous laboratory experience is desirable but not required.<\/li>\n<li>Students who have previously participated in this program are not eligible to reapply.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"hr\">Program Support<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Duration:<\/strong>\u00a010 weeks (May 24, 2027\u2013July 30, 2027)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stipend:<\/strong> $4,000<\/li>\n<li><strong>Participant expenses:<\/strong> Interns are responsible for their own travel, meals, housing, and other incidental expenses related to participation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"hr\">Location<\/h2>\n<p>UConn Health houses a division of the University of Connecticut Graduate School, the School of Medicine, and the School of Dental Medicine. Located in Farmington, just seven miles west of Hartford and midway between Boston and New York, UConn Health is built atop a hill with panoramic views of both the Hartford skyline and the rural hills of the surrounding area.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"hr\">Training and Research Experience<\/h2>\n<p>Interns will be matched with faculty sponsors who align with their specific research interests. Before or at the start of the program, interns will meet with their faculty sponsors to establish the goals of their summer research projects.<\/p>\n<p>It is expected that each intern will work on a research project either independently or in collaboration with other members of the laboratory and will become actively involved in the research. They will interact with the faculty sponsors directing the research, as well as graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and research staff.\u00a0 Interns will commit approximately 35 hours per week to their research projects for 10 weeks and attend weekly enrichment seminars.
