Connecticut Children\u2019s is consistently named among the best in the nation in the annual U.S. News &amp; World Report \u201cBest Children\u2019s Hospitals\u201d rankings.<\/p>\n<p>The history of Connecticut Children\u2019s spans more than 100 years. Founded as a 10-bed hospital for children who suffered incurable conditions such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida and polio, Connecticut Children\u2019s is now one of only two freestanding children\u2019s hospitals in New England\u2014the only freestanding children\u2019s hospital in Connecticut\u2014that offers comprehensive, world-class health care to children and adolescents in a patient- and family-centered environment with a focus on research, education and advocacy. Its Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and Primary Care Center are the busiest between Boston and New York. Connecticut Children\u2019s has 2,200 employees with a medical staff of nearly 1,100, practicing in more than 20 specialties.
