The hospital has added a new 169-bedded University tower recently to its existing facility with state of the art operating rooms. At present, there are 19 residencies and 35 fellowships, many of which are integrated with area hospitals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UConn School of Medicine's<\/strong> basic science departments, preclinical educational conference rooms and laboratories are located at the UConn Health campus. It is also the site of most clinical departments and associated laboratory research space. In recent years the School of Medicine has consistently been one of the most rapidly growing institutions in terms of NIH research funding, with over 30 million dollars in annual extramural grant support.
