{"id":5611,"date":"2018-01-16T10:22:44","date_gmt":"2018-01-16T15:22:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/graduate-medical-education\/?page_id=5611"},"modified":"2025-05-21T12:25:32","modified_gmt":"2025-05-21T16:25:32","slug":"application-information","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/graduate-medical-education\/endocrinology-and-metabolism-fellowship\/application-information\/","title":{"rendered":"Application Information"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"pl-5611\"  class=\"panel-layout\" ><div id=\"pg-5611-0\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-5611-0-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-5611-0-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_black-studio-tinymce widget_black_studio_tinymce panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"0\" ><div class=\"textwidget\"><p>We participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>We only accept applications through the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/students-residents.aamc.org\/applying-residency\/applying-residencies-eras\/\">Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The elements of the application that we require through ERAS are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Common Application Form<\/li>\n<li>CV with any gaps in training explained<\/li>\n<li>Medical School Transcript<\/li>\n<li>Dean\u2019s Letter<\/li>\n<li>Three Letters of Reference including one from the program director or department chair of your present program<\/li>\n<li>USMLE Transcript<\/li>\n<li>Personal Statement<\/li>\n<li>Photograph<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applicants must meet\u00a0one\u00a0of the following qualifications to be eligible for fellowship training:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Graduate of U.S. or Canadian medical school accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA)<\/li>\n<li>Graduate of a foreign medical school with:<\/li>\n<li>A valid ECFMG certificate or<\/li>\n<li>Completion of Fifth Pathway Program provided by a medical school accredited by the LCME or<\/li>\n<li>A full and unrestricted license to practice medicine<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Applicants must have successfully completed a three-year internal medicine residency prior to the anticipated start date of the Endocrinology fellowship program.<\/p>\n<p>Our program does not have a cut off year since graduation from medical school. Applicants must have passed USMLE Steps 1, 2, and 3.<\/p>\n<p>While we preferentially review applications from those who signal our program, we also consider other factors in an applicant\u2019s portfolio in making a decision on extending an interview invitation.<\/p>\n<p>We consider the interview an important part of the application process. This year due to COVID-19 restrictions, all interviews will be held using a virtual platform, without in person visits. Selected applicants are invited for interviews during the months of September through October, with details regarding the virtual interview process provided at that time. In addition, applicants will be offered the opportunity to virtually attend one of our weekly clinical case conferences and intercity grand rounds. Since physical tours of the facilities will not be possible, we have posted several informational videos and testimonials on the website for your review.<\/p>\n<p>UConn accepts applicants who are United States citizens, or foreign nationals who have J-1, EAD, or permanent resident status. The UConn School of Medicine\/Capital Area Health Consortium does NOT sponsor H1B or O visas.<\/p>\n<p>Fellows are selected from eligible applicants on the basis of their academic credentials, preparedness, ability, aptitude, communication skills, personal qualities such as motivation and integrity and other factors.<\/p>\n<p>The Fellowship Selection Committee determines the rank list and order for NRMP. Candidates will be selected for the NRMP rank list and order on the basis of credentials as detailed above after careful review of application materials and as demonstrated during the interview.
