{"id":5490,"date":"2018-01-12T11:08:40","date_gmt":"2018-01-12T16:08:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/graduate-medical-education\/?page_id=5490"},"modified":"2025-04-28T15:41:54","modified_gmt":"2025-04-28T19:41:54","slug":"applicant-eligibility-and-selection-criteria","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/graduate-medical-education\/child-and-adolescent-psychiatry-fellowship\/applicant-eligibility-and-selection-criteria\/","title":{"rendered":"Applicant Eligibility and Selection Criteria"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"pl-5490\"  class=\"panel-layout\" ><div id=\"pg-5490-0\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-5490-0-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-5490-0-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_black-studio-tinymce widget_black_studio_tinymce panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"0\" ><div class=\"textwidget\"><h3>Eligibility Criteria<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Graduate of U.S. or Canadian medical school accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).<\/li>\n<li>UConn Health sponsors international candidates on J-1 visas only.<\/li>\n<li>Graduate of a foreign medical school with:\n<ol>\n<li>A valid ECFMG certificate or<\/li>\n<li>Completion of Fifth Pathway Program provided by a medical school accredited by the LCME or<\/li>\n<li>A full and unrestricted license to practice medicine<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Passed USMLE Step 1 and 2 with either completion of Step 3 OR plans to complete before entering the program.<\/li>\n<li>Prior Psychiatry residency training in good standing (without probation) as evidenced by:\n<ol>\n<li>Completion of an accredited residency in psychiatry at a U.S. or Canadian medical school or<\/li>\n<li>Completion of the PGY1, PGY2, and PGY3 years of an accredited residency in psychiatry at a U.S. or Canadian medical school. May apply to program prior to completion of PGY3 year.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Selection Criteria<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Selection of residents is based on:\n<ol>\n<li>Resident applicant qualities of honesty, integrity, professionalism, and desire for training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry<\/li>\n<li>Satisfactory meeting of eligibility requirements for application to our program (see above)<\/li>\n<li>Information provided in the applicant\u2019s application packet, and<\/li>\n<li>Information provided during the applicant\u2019s interview with our program, and<\/li>\n<li>Review of all pertinent applicant information by the Admissions Committee of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If accepted to our Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program and choosing to matriculate, you must have:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A valid state of Connecticut license to practice medicine upon entering the UConn School of Medicine Residency in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by July 1 of the year of residency entry.<\/li>\n<li>A valid federal and state of Connecticut DEA number upon entering the UConn School of Medicine Residency in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by July 1 of the year of residency entry.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/graduate-medical-education\/eligibility-requirements-and-selection\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">View more information on Eligibility Requirements and Selection.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Our program does not discriminate with respect to gender, race, age, religion, color, natural origin, disability, or any other applicable legally protected status.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Eligibility Criteria Graduate of U.S. or Canadian medical school accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
