The program fosters excellence in patient care through a commitment to education, research, innovation, and resident wellness.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aims\u00a0of UConn Pathology Residency Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Our primary site (UConn Health) is a healthcare system and hospital, and branch of the University of Connecticut that allows provides a research-rich environment which offers with many opportunities for resident involvement. Our residency program offers four blocks (4 weeks per block) of research\/ elective, which is unique to our program and aligns with our program and institution&#8217;s mission statements.<\/li>\n<li>To provide a diverse array of clinical cases for residents to enable them to provide that enable them to deliver accurate and timely pathology interpretations, effectively communicate findings to clinicians, and contribute to patient management decisions. We will facilitate residents\u2019 ability to critically appraise and apply evidence to complex cases, actively seek out new knowledge, and evaluate the effectiveness of their own practice.<\/li>\n<li>To provide diverse extensive educational opportunities in which the residents will learn to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of pathology principles and disease processes, and integrate advanced knowledge of anatomic, cellular, and molecular pathology for application to common and uncommon diagnoses.<\/li>\n<li>To promote a diverse patient and faculty population in which the residents will learn effective interpersonal and communication skills. This will allow the residents them to communicate clearly and respectfully with clinicians, patients, and their families, communicate feedback and constructive criticism to superiors, and collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals.<\/li>\n<li>To foster professionalism amongst faculty as role models to our trainees. This will encourage residents to demonstrate accountability, maintain a high standard of practice, and adhere to ethical principles.<\/li>\n<li>To facilitate residents&#8217; understanding of efficient utilization of healthcare system resources to advocate for effective patient care within the system.
