Psychiatry Residency Program<\/span><\/h2>\n

The mission of the UConn Psychiatry Residency Program at Manchester Memorial Hospital is to train future leaders in academic psychiatry who provide evidence-based patient-centered care, think critically, conduct research, and provide mentorship for future psychiatrists. As a residency program and institution, we value diversity, equity, and inclusion. It encompasses the people we recruit and the populations we serve and advocate for in society. Our physicians and residents strive to provide humanistic, compassionate, culturally sensitive, and quality care to all patients.<\/span><\/p>\n

Welcome and thank you for your interest in the UConn Psychiatry Residency Program at Manchester Memorial Hospital<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Our residents train at an institution that values diversity, equity, and inclusion, and it reflects in our policies and processes. Our residents will train in diverse clinical setting under a supervising faculty. They will serve individuals with a wide range of psychiatric disorders. Our residents will develop a deep understanding of different therapeutic modalities, based on the individual biopsychosocial formulation of patients. We believe that strong knowledge of psychotherapeutic modalities is also in understanding of the patient and providing evidence-based care. Residents will work towards progressive autonomy and independence in their training experience. Structured didactics help in strengthening knowledge of psychiatry. We want to stimulate scholarly interest and support our residents in their endeavors to be leaders in the field of psychiatry.<\/p>\n

We value the importance of emotional and physical wellbeing of our trainees. Our Psychiatry Residency Program is a small family where we closely interact with each other through regular meetings, retreats, and holiday events. Faculty mentors will collaborate with residents on their personal and professional growth.<\/p>\n
