Residents can choose from a variety of projects including case reports, clinical trials, data analysis, surveys, or collaboration with other residents. Minimum requirements are outlined by year of training.<\/p>\n<h3>PGY1<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Attend three hours of workshops on research fundamentals, data analysis, scientific writing, and library services.<\/li>\n<li>Begin considering scholarly and clinical interests.<\/li>\n<li>Identify a research topic and a faculty mentor.<\/li>\n<li>Draft a concise research question.<\/li>\n<li>Meet with faculty leadership to assess project feasibility.<\/li>\n<li>Submit the chosen research topic, question, and faculty mentor's name by the end of PGY1.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>PGY2<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Attend mandatory meeting(s) with research faculty to establish goals for Scholarly Rotation.<\/li>\n<li>Complete a 4-week Scholarly Activity Rotation, with 2 weeks dedicated to the research project.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct a literature review and produce a 3-4 page manuscript with at least 10-15 primary source citations.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with the faculty scholarly mentor throughout this process.<\/li>\n<li>Submit the final manuscript at the end of PGY2.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>PGY3<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Work with a faculty mentor.<\/li>\n<li>Expand upon the manuscript with a more extensive project, which could include a literature review (25+ citations), case series, quality improvement project, or dataset analysis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>PGY4<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Continue working with a faculty mentor.<\/li>\n<li>Disseminate research results:\n<ul>\n<li>Present at the annual UConn Psychiatry Department Research Day.<\/li>\n<li>Present at regional or national meetings.<\/li>\n<li>Give a presentation at UConn Department of Psychiatry Grand Rounds.<\/li>\n<li>Explore other dissemination avenues as needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Note: Dissemination can occur at any time during residency.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul><\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Residents are required to engage in a personalized, long-term scholarly experience culminating in a poster or oral presentation, often at the Annual Department of Psychiatry Research Day.
