Our UConn Acute Care Surgery Fellowship fully recognizes the importance of the well-being of our fellows. We support and foster a healthy work-life balance, and are supportive of all domains, including the emotional, physical, and social, financial, occupational, environmental, spiritual and intellectual well-being of our fellows. We recognize that we all need support in the challenging decision we make and during the difficult periods that inevitably arise. We encourage our residents to prioritize their mental and physical well-being in an effort to reduce burnout and build resilience.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

RESIDENT BENEFITS<\/h2>\n

Mentorship<\/h3>\n

Every fellow is assigned a faculty mentor at the start of the fellowship and has the ability to select their own if they choose to. The mentor meets with the fellow regularly to offer support for their individual professional growth and development and support any concerns for well-being.<\/p>\n

Free Counseling<\/h3>\n

Free confidential counseling is available to all fellows, with information given on how to access this during their training.<\/p>\n

Fellow of the Year Award<\/h3>\n

One fellow each year receives a certificate and a cash award of $1000 based on clinical inquiry, outstanding patient care, research, and education of peers, students, and faculty.<\/p>\n
