The program fosters a strong culture of academic inquiry and innovation, preparing fellows to become clinician\u2013scientists, educators, and leaders in evidence-based critical care.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monthly Research Forums<\/strong>\u00a0provide a collaborative environment where fellows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Present and discuss ongoing projects and new research ideas.<\/li>\n<li>Receive structured didactics on\u00a0<strong>research methodology, biostatistics, abstract and manuscript preparation<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Obtain constructive feedback from faculty mentors and peers across multiple disciplines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The research enterprise is supported by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A\u00a0<strong>dedicated data management team<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>electronic research database<\/strong>\u00a0that tracks key severity-of-illness indicators.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Statistical support<\/strong>\u00a0through the\u00a0<strong>Clinical Research Center<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Internal funding opportunities<\/strong>\u00a0for start-up projects within the\u00a0<strong>Departments of Anesthesiology, Surgery, and Emergency Medicine<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h1>Scholarly Expectations<\/h1>\n<p>Beyond research participation, fellows are expected to contribute to the\u00a0<strong>academic mission<\/strong>\u00a0of the program through diverse scholarly activities that promote professional growth and academic excellence.<\/p>\n<p>Examples include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Presenting abstracts, case reports, or QI initiatives<\/strong>\u00a0at regional or national conferences.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Publishing manuscripts<\/strong>\u00a0or contributing\u00a0<strong>book chapters<\/strong>\u00a0in anesthesiology, emergency medicine, or critical care.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Developing simulation-based curricula<\/strong>, educational modules, or institutional clinical protocols.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Collaborating across disciplines<\/strong>\u2014including Anesthesiology, Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Cardiology, and Neurology\u2014on research, education, and quality improvement initiatives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Through these experiences, fellows cultivate the academic and leadership skills essential for advancing both their careers and the science and practice of critical care medicine.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fellows are expected to participate in at least\u00a0one research project\u00a0and\/or\u00a0one quality improvement project\u00a0during their fellowship.
