Applicants from both <strong>Anesthesiology<\/strong> and <strong>Emergency Medicine<\/strong> residencies are eligible to apply through the <strong>San Francisco (SF) Match<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"pf0\"><span class=\"cf0\">In addition, <strong>Hartford HealthCare Hospitals<\/strong> offer a <strong>non-ACGME second-year Critical Care Fellowship<\/strong> designed for Emergency Medicine graduates seeking eligibility for <strong>American Board of Anesthesiology certification<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Program Mission<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><!--StartFragment --><\/p>\n<p class=\"pf0\"><span class=\"cf0\">The UConn ACCM Fellowship aims to develop <strong>skilled, compassionate, and independent consultants<\/strong> who:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"pf0\"><span class=\"cf1\">Demonstrate deep medical knowledge and sound clinical judgment.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"pf0\"><span class=\"cf1\">Excel in procedural and cognitive critical care skills.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"pf0\"><span class=\"cf1\">Advocate for patient safety and multidisciplinary collaboration.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"pf0\"><span class=\"cf1\">Serve as educators, leaders, and role models within their institutions and communities.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"pf0\"><span class=\"cf1\">Our fellows graduate as <strong>well-rounded intensivists<\/strong> prepared to manage diverse and complex critically ill populations with excellence and confidence.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><!--StartFragment --><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"pf0\"><strong><span class=\"cf0\">Clinical Training<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"pf0\"><span class=\"cf0\">Fellows rotate through three major institutions, gaining exposure to a broad spectrum of critical care environments:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"pf0\"><span class=\"cf1\"><strong>Hartford Hospital<\/strong> \u2013 an <strong>867-bed Level I academic and tertiary referral center<\/strong>, among the largest in New England, with:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"pf0\">Over <strong>2,000 trauma admissions<\/strong> and <strong>30,000 surgical procedures annually<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"pf0\">More than<strong> 3,000 surgical ICU admissions<\/strong> each year across the <strong>Trauma\/Surgical ICU (C8I)<\/strong>, <strong>Cardiothoracic Surgical ICU (B2N &amp; B3N)<\/strong>, and <strong>Neuro ICU (C9I &amp; B9I)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"pf0\">Additional exposure in the <strong>Coronary Care Unit (B10I)<\/strong> and <strong>Emergency Critical Care Unit (ECCU)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"pf0\">A total of <strong>105 ICU beds (including MICU)<\/strong> and <strong>58 step-down beds<\/strong>, offering continuity of care across the spectrum of critical illness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"pf0\"><span class=\"cf1\"><strong>The Hospital of Central Connecticut (HOCC)<\/strong> \u2013 a <strong>414-bed community teaching hospital<\/strong> and <strong>Level III Trauma Center<\/strong> in New Britain and Southington.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"pf0\">Features a <strong>24-bed mixed medical\u2013surgical\u2013neuro ICU<\/strong>, offering broad exposure to trauma, postoperative, and community-based critical care.<\/li>\n<li class=\"pf0\">Fellows work closely with dedicated intensivists and APPs, gaining experience in independent clinical decision-making and procedural competency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"pf0\"><span class=\"cf1\"><strong>UConn Health<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>John Dempsey Hospital<\/strong> \u2013 a <strong>234-bed academic medical center<\/strong> in Farmington, CT.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"pf0\">The <strong>28-bed mixed Medical\u2013Surgical\u2013Neurocritical Care Unit<\/strong> provides exposure to multidisciplinary care under a <strong>closed ICU model<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"pf0\">Managed by intensivists from <strong>Anesthesiology, Surgery, Neurology, and Internal Medicine<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"pf0\">Fellows work alongside <strong>Pulmonary and Surgical Critical Care fellows<\/strong>, as well as residents and medical students, in a collaborative educational environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"pf0\"><span class=\"cf1\">This comprehensive, multi-institutional experience ensures that graduates emerge as <strong>highly trained intensivists<\/strong> capable of managing the sickest patients in any setting.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><!--StartFragment --><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"pf0\"><strong><span class=\"cf0\">Education &amp;
